Projects

We use a collaborative approach to  support communities through our diverse range of  advocacy services and life-changing support workshops and groups. These are vital in helping people transform their lives, live independently and recognise that they are not  alone. A large part of our work focuses on mental health, increasing emotional intelligence and resilience. We also campaign to  raise awareness and promote understanding around social and cultural inclusion.

THE LEADER WITHIN PROJECT

The Leader Within

We are working with the Young People in Nottinghamshire to Improve their mental and physical well-being by:

  • Providing leisure  and social activities for young people  in marginalised areas

  • Providing practical advise and skills development workshops so they can thrive to their fullest potential

  • Uplift the communities of the young people so they feel safe and supported to thrive

  • Providing various activities to raise awareness about Gang Culture and Mental Health

  •  Empowering them to bring theie career ideas to life 

  • Providing a safe space where they are able to  air their views on the changes they would like to see

  •  Providing life coaching to help people live within their fullest potential

Since the lockdown restrictions where lifted we have managed to build up their social interaction  through various activities from basket ball to boxing. We have seen the positive shift in the young people interreacting, staying off the streets and bringing positive ideas to build their communities.

the DADs project

We are working with system partners to support 200 BAME fathers within the Nottingham, Hyson Green, Arboretum, Aspley and Bulwell wards.

 

Aim: To equip fathers with skills, research, and knowledge about child development, build their confidence to become involved and engaged fathers even with cultural barriers.

 

Content: The programme will focus on equipping fathers with skills and knowledge about child development, safety and health, everyday practises to emotionally engage , enjoy and enhance the quality of relationship with their child. In addition we use an experts by experience methodology looking the child rearing settings within the BAME family unit and aligning the with UK Child Rearing and Public Health Standards. We will also have a father and child fun activity to also look at the health, nutrition of the child through the healthy eating healthy cooking activity. This session will be facilitated by a local BAME restaurant Braai Flavours, who have agreed to provide the activity. During this activity we will look at how healthy eating is important for the child.  For sustainability we will finish with reflections, evaluations and referral pathways available.

 

Outcomes:

  • Support and build positive connections with other dads 

  • Increase of the fathers’ engagement and involvement in the early years of their child

  • Increase of parenting confidence or competency of the dad's

  • Improve the core developmental and emotional  areas of the child

  • Provide tools that can help them be part of their child's growth and development processes

  • Mentorship for young dads

  • Provide `well-being support  through our dads talk sessions

the single mums PROJECT

Single Mums

We are working with single mums within diverse communities to :

  • Build their confidence in being in lone parenting skills

  • Provide well-being support through shared inspiration 

  • Build their social interaction skills to boost their confidence 

  • Provide experts by experience advocacy support to maintain work life balance

  • Provide life coaching  to help people live within their fullest potential

THE HEALING AND INSPIRATION PROJECT 

We drive positive systematic change  through our talk show to: 

  • Provide shared experience from  leaders  and influencers that help drive social changes

  • Empower people to able to navigate their emotional needs

  • Provide inspirational solutions that help  people cope with life's challenges especially during lockdown

  • Raise mental health awareness and various aspects of mental health

  • Provide life coaching to help people live within their fullest potential

Talk Show

the young dads PROJECT

Young Dads

We are working with young dads within diverse communities  as well as those on social rehabilitation programmes to:

 

Aim: To equip young fathers with skills, research, and knowledge about child development, build their confidence to become involved and engaged fathers even with cultural barriers.

 

Content: The programme gives them keys tools for becoming a father, parenting skills to use a positive parenting approach and emphasises the important role fathers play in their child’s growth and development. Provide wellbeing support especially around the anxieties of becoming a father at a young age. The programme is interactive, fun and gives them an opportunity for fathers to build a support network. We will provide mentorship from other Fathers with experience. We will have a father and child/partner fun activity to also look at the emotional development of a child.

THE well-being project

We are working to support people protect their mental health and wellbeing especially after the pandemic by:

  • better understanding the factors that increase the risk of mental illnesses  in various circumstances

  • identifying ways in which people can be helped to protect their mental health

  • providing support and advice that will best meet their needs and preferences if they experience mental illness.

THE mentoring programme 

 We provide our mentoring programme to:

  • Encourage people to connect with others on a personal level and build strong, trusting relationships that motivate and guide towards future goals

  • Strengthen their personal  skills and help them identify their passion

  • Help students acclimatise to college life, as well as prepare to graduate and enter the workforce

  • Provide life coaching to help people live within their fullest potential

Creative Arts

the empowered youth PROJECT

We are collaborating with global communities to :

  • Promote cultural infusion activities that foster understanding between people of diverse backgrounds

  • Build a bridge between the young people within the global communities eg in Zimbabwe and the young people in the United Kingdom through virtual sessions to promote diversity

  • Raise awareness about substance misuse and the impact on their physical and mental well-being

  • Provide various interventions and advocacy to tackle the drug pandemic
